Title: | [Impact of physical activity on anthropometric indices in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes]. |
Abstract: | INTRODUCTION: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is currently the most common cause of chronic liver disease in many developed countries. The first step, which is offered to all patients with NAFLD includes lifestyle modifications, low-calorie diet, increased physical activity and giving up smoking. OBJECTIVE: to evaluate the efficiency of the daily 30-minute walking at a fast pace on the dynamics of anthropometric indices in patients with NAFLD and pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study included 59 patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and impaired carbohydrate metabolism, which conducted a comprehensive clinical examination that included collection of anthropometric data, physical examination and taking venous blood for laboratory analysis, ultrasound of the abdomen. RESULTS: According to statistical analysis, patients on the background of NAFLD and pre-diabeetes / type 2 diabetes, performing daily 30-minute walks at a fast pace, found significant changes of anthropometric indices. CONCLUSIONS: Daily 30-minute walking at a fast pace is an effective method on reduction of body weight in patients with NAFLD and pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes. |
